Am wanting a better strap for my new binos than the usual round-the-neck strap that leaves them slinging. What's the verdict on those ones that go 'round your neck and also 'round your torso and pull up when you need them? What do you use? Do you like them? What would you recommend?

Thx,
ILBR

I have harnesses on all my binos. MUCH better than straps. They hold them tight to your chest, you don't knock your teeth out when you bed over to tie your boot or jump out of a truck. :)

Butler Creek sells one, but it blows. Get one with a leather '4 way' slot thingy at the back.

I have used ones almost identical. They were great for the most part but I hated them when wearing a pack, found them uncomfortable. And in most of the hunting I do, I am wearing a pack and not a small one ;).

Worth a try for that price, you might really like that style of bino strap or harness for the type of hunting you are doing. Everyone is different as are the styles that we hunt. Some folks like em and some don't, cant hurt to try though...

I know that everyone seems to love those harness gizmos, but I've gotta say that after playing with them for a couple of years, I hate'em. Getting them on and off is a PITA, especially when wearing bulky clothing. If used in warm or hot weather, I find that they plaster your shirt down aroung your torso and cause a lot of sweating, as they restrict the air flow through your clothing.

I think a much better solution is a single, narrow strap, not the wide type that is so often recommended. You put this over one shoulder and under the opposite arm, with the binocular resting on your chest. When you get the length adjusted correctly for your build, the binoculars rest comfortable in whatever position you put them. If you're going through thick brush, you can slide them down so that they are under your arm, against your ribs, or even all the way around to the small of the back. This protects the binoculars from just about anything, even if you are low crawling, but you can still slide them back into viewing position instantly. Best of all, you can slip into or out of this type of rig very easily and quietly.

Just my $0.02.
