Thanks in advance, I bought my girl friend a pair of bushnell trophy 10x42 they are very nice rugged, water/fog proof, multi coated lenses and have a nice case strap and covers. I normally don’t buy anything without doing my research but i was planning on buying the bushnell model but ended up being talked in to the Nikon version the salesman at cabelas reassured me this is a far more superior product and has an even better warranty over bushnells no questions asked lifetime warranty. I purchased the Nikon monarch 5 now doing some online research I don’t think the warranty is the same or even better then bushnells warranty and the Nikon to the bushnells seem to be almost on par not the step above like the salesman claimed so just asking for your opinions, experiences with Nikon and or this product. Bushnells binos were 219$ vs Nikon’s 489$) 270$ dollar difference... but they seem very similar so are they worth it?

I have Monarch 5's and they are great binos, very clear.
Looked at Nikon, Vortex, Leupold and Bushnell before buying.
Haven't needed to use the warranty so can't comment.

I would not worry about the Nikon warranty...as i wrote in other posts, Nikon Canada replaced my broken, 5 year old D600 camera with a brand new D610 at no charge, a $2000+ value..granted there was a known issue with my camera but it was broken beyond that issue anyway

I sent in a set of Excursions to Bushnell as the strap clippy tings broke.
They no longer offer up the Excursions, so as a replacemint, well chit, they
sent me the Trophies.
Not impressed with this swap.
The Excursions had by far clearer lenses.

Dun with Bewshnils.

The Bushnell Trophy are Binos that you buy your 12 year old son as a stocking stuffer. They will just make small blurry #### look like big fuzzy unclear ####.
The Nikon Monarch 5’s are excellent Binos, probably the best value out there in optics.
The Nikon warranty is incredible, you mail them your beat up gear and they mail you out the brand new model free.
The salesman did you a big favour, with the Monarch 5’s you have a product that is actually worth your money.

I have used Monarchs for nearly 20 years. I bought another set last year, I looked through dozens and dozens of the latest and greatest, I passed up Binos that were twice the price as a I love me some Monarch.

Apples to Apples, the Bushnell Legend series were much clearer to my eye to both the M5 and the M7 offerings from Nikon. As mentioned, the Trophy series is more entry level but I wouldn't consider them toys. It is an unfair comparison as the Nikon at double the price should be at least somewhat better.

I have heard some horror stories in the past about both company's warranty, however Bushnell has stepped up theirs over the last while. I sent in a Bushnell Elite 3200 scope that didn't seem as clear as others that I have on hand. I received a new 3500 model within 2 weeks with no receipt offered and no questions asked.

The Excursion models mentioned above are not covered by a lifetime, no questions asked warranty, however are still covered. I sent a pair in that my son had been dragging around since he was little but I also had proof of purchase. They sent me a new upgraded pair of Excursion that are very impressive considering price point. I received these in a little over 3 weeks without any hassle.

IMO Bushnell offers the best bang for the buck in most any price range up to 5 or 600 dollars. Whether you have $80 dollars or several hundred there is a competitive Bushnell product. Expecting $500 + quality glass for a couple of hundred and then bashing the product is a bit of a stretch. And suggesting a better warranty is out there as well.
