Anyone have one,...know where to get them in Canada?

Can they be ordered from the USA?

Not sure if this was the correct place to put this post, ..if it is not than please move it.

I was looking for one as well not too long ago. Found one at Cabellas Canada.

I've toyed with the idea of getting one for some time but I'm slightly suspicious of consumer-grade biometric electronics and may end up with a Simplex-type mechanical lock. I have read good things about the 9G Inprint biometric safe, though. Marstar shows it on their website (and it's even in stock:eek:)

There are a couple of locksmiths on CGN but I can't remember who they are. Maybe one will chime in.

I can't say from experience but I see no reason why they would contravene US export regs. as they don't have to be used for firearms only. Certain vendors may not sell across the border, though. If you do order from the US, insist that it be sent via USPS or you'll be gutted by brokerage charges from UPS or FedEx. (Many US vendors don't know this.) Shipping may be pricey due to weight, though.

I was thinking of getting one of the biometric ones but was talking to my coworker and said what happens on the day you really need to get into the safe in a hurry (god forbid) and earlier that day you just happen to cut your fingers or have very dry skin and it doesn't register on the sensor. :p

just tried one at a local store in Moncton. NO WAY will I be getting one. I coded my finger twice. i then had a 1 out of 4 success rate of opening it. I will go with the newer stack on quick access unit. I also was at an alarm and safe company. He knows of these safes (biometric) and has no confidence in them. Apparently, the technology to run them is no where near success rate of the biometric locks they install.

I picked up a Gun Vault las time I was south of the border in "The Bargain Cave" at cabellas in WA. Got it for a hundred bucks. Pretty happy with it although I think you would have to bolt it to a non- movable surface to keep it legal as far as gun storage laws are concerned. Not sure what they sell for in Canada but if access was important to you, hand on pistol in under 3 seconds.

I have the Barska biometric gun safe and it has never failed to open, for those fears that your finger may be damaged and unreadable, there is an easy fix, program all of your fingers. You can program up to 30 finger prints. The only thing that I don't like is that the safe beeps when it is opened.

First time poster, but on topic I think:

Very full of himself, but some good points about some of the security issues with the cheaper options.

I ended up ordering the newer Stack-on unit that resembles the gun vault units. (3 black buttons on top) I saw one locally and although I wanted to support them..they did not budge on the $170+13% tax. I got one at Cabela's from the US. $127 shipped-duties/taxes in.
