Not sure this is the right forum....

What would you recommend for as an excellent Bipod for this rifle?? I'm new to this so what appreciate some advise.

Thanks

It seems the Atlas comes highly recommended, although a "buy once...cry once"...option :)

Any opinion on this one?

I bought that exact one last year. It's been amazing for my purposes. Having it on a QD pic setup makes it easy for me to swap between all of my rifles; since you really only want to have to cry the once. For me personally, I can't see going any other way. I run a magpul bipod on my RPR in 17HMR and it's ok, but it's no where near as stable as the Atlas. I haven't seen a knock off that can match the build quality either. If you can afford the Atlas do it; otherwise you'll just regret it until you can afford an Atlas down the line ;)

It's got some play, but unstable, not something I'd use to describe mine. Just stepped off the scale, it's supporting about 15 lbs., so it's not a lightweight.

If you have a flush bank account by all means get the best, but don't let the fan boys convince you that a Magpul, or Harris won't serve you well, they will for at least half the cost.

People seem pretty happy with the Caldwell, Allen, and other "knockoff" brands of bipod (Scorpion, if I remember correctly is the Harris knockoff). Shooting, like any other hobby, has it's fair share of elitism when it comes to brands.

Most Harris clones will do the job, but over the years I've found they don't have the same longevity, obviously some are better, and some worse. If you are just shooting off the bench they are fine though.

I went with a Caldwell last year in Pet on my .308. When it folded up on me during a shoot, Barney laughed and laughed. I even had a Harris bipod at the time too. This year I bought an MDT CKYE, that is the cat's ass. Check it out on YouTube.

My not going all out just meant I had to take the more expensive route to get where I should started in the first place.

Sometimes going all out isn't an option, but good enough, is good enough, and I suggest that a real Harris, or Magpul is just that. For the dollar I'm very pleased with my Magpul. I also have a Harris Clone that's proven to be well made, and one other that was recently retired because it was going to fail sooner rather than later. If my rifle was much heavier I'd probably be looking for an alternative though.
