Ok, so I took the plunge and ordered a Remington/AICS AX .308 build today. What I need is some help choosing the right bipod for it. I have read the online reviews of Parker Hales, GG&G, Versa-Pod and Atlas and just can't make up my mind.

Primarily this is a paper puncher, but maybe there is a competition or two in my future. What would you suggest, and where in Canada can I get it.

Out of the ones you listed I would recommend the atlas simply because it's the one I have experience with and i'm very impressed with it. Also it's easy to attach a rail to the AX chassis so the atlas makes sense.

When you say competition, do you mean f-class type shooting? If so maybe take a look at the Mystic Precision M-pod.

Did the exact same thing recently, 700p AX AICS, and I got the atlas, I didn't get the quick release lever version myself, so not getting that option may be able to save yourself $50 if you're not going to be removing it on and off all the time, Just a thought.

Not in your list but take a look at the Sinclair Tactical Bipod. Huge range of adjustment and well built. Pricey but I would buy one again.

I used Harris ( even with Larue mount and Pod Loc etc ) for years

Bought a GG&G ( not bad ) for my ARs but don't like it for bolt gun. Overpriced for what it is

Bought a Sako for my Sako TRG....completely overpriced for what it is

So, when it came time to buy bipod for my AI AEMkII was looking at the Parker Hale ( Versa Pod is a cheap knock off of PH ) so I can make use of spigot

I spoke to Stacey Blankenship at Accuracy International ( US importer ) and told me for a military field use the PH is a good choice, but it is a bit floppy for bench use. The first thing I though of was my Sako bipod ( great field bipod , but since its free to cant not good for bench shooting ). Don't want to make a $500 mistake again. Stacy suggested a Atlas Bipod which is less expensive than the PH

Long story short, I put a Atlas with quick release rail clamp to adapt on my AI Spigot

Since your AX chassis does not have a AI spigot, you should use the rail section and buy Atlas with BT10-LW17 with a American Defense quick release, or go with a BT-10 NC ( no clamp ) and buy a Larue 271 quick release

Since I bought the Atlas, I do no tuse my Harris ( unless its mouting to a sling stud )

By the time you pimp out a Harris with pod loc and a proper picatinny clamp ( ie the Larue Harris hybrid...they want $200 ) its the same $$ as a Atlas. When you consider its about the same, there is no compelling reason to buy the Harris

I also use the Atlas on my TRG42 ( I have a picatinny section on the rail slot of the forend ). My Sako bipod just gathers dust now

Here’s a few home made options if you don’t like recoil. I’ve never heard of anyone but myself who uses recoil absorbing bipods. I got enough plaques and medals to prove this does not hurt your accuracy. Plus I get to watch my bullets fly.

You can see that I added a couple set screws to the Versa Pod to stop it from flip flopping around. The set screws have plastic tips so it's smooth.
