Hi,

I am looking to get a bipod to use on some of my rifles, question is what is the best length to get for both sitting and bench? I am looking at the Shooter's Ridge brand and I was leaning toward the 13"-23" or something like that. Two questions naturally follow from this:

1) Is 13" short enough for bench or even prone shooting.
2) Is 23" high enough for sitting?

Thanks!
Evan

The BR model is 6" - 9" in height.

I now have a 6 - 9 for bench and prone. I used to use the 9" - 12", but that's too high for prone, unless you have a big gut.

Ok, for now prone doesn't matter. If I wat to do more prone shooting then I would get the smaller one. How would 13" be on a bench? A little too high? I really want one for sitting because I want to use it for hunting and prone on snow does not seem appealing, but I would also like to double up for bench rest as well so I am trying to figure out if it will be possible.

Nope. Not yet, just getting into it. I have hunted for the past 3 or 4 years but haven't really got into just shooting until this year. Maybe in a few years when I have a good rifle I will be able to, right now I am still in University and so no money for guns yet. Just shooting .22 on weekend most of the time since I can't afford to feed any of my other guns :(. One more year though!

About the bipod, is 23" high enough for sitting?

Bench , use bags, and for the prone position, I like the 12s harris, its low enough for a big fella, and gets the barrel up over the grass , in many field situations. Now if you were gonna use it on a groomed range you could go much lower.

Thats my question. 3-9" may be good for prone in a groomed, flat environment, but what about going prone in areas where your either in some kind of grass, or the target you are aiming at isn't exactly level to you but a little higher?

I too am looking to either be using a bench and prone. The bench I'm thinking of is not chest high though so I may be hunching over a bit with a shorter bipod.

I am a pretty thin guy with no real decernable beergut. I'm 6' tall with a somewhat long reach (I like moonlit nights and long walks on the beach lol...anyways). Is the BR still the best option for myself or is the L model, the next length up better (9-13")???

You will have to try them to find out what's best for you.

I think I am going to try out the tall one first and if I find it is too high for me then I will just keep drinking beer until it is just the right hight. I'll just have to fine tune it. :)
