I bought a RioRand (Atlas knock off) bipod off Amazon.

My wife has me on a budget after my last rifle purchase so I have to fly under the radar for a while. I really want an Atlas BT46-LW17 PSR bipod for my Ruger RPR. However, purchasing one of these would have ended with it firmly planted in my lower rear orifice. Then I was on YouTube one evening and did a search on Altas knock offs. I found a video about using some grease and a couple of o-rings to tune one up. Hmmmm. So I went on Amazon and ordered one. $61 shipped to me.

It arrived today. The folks that make these have no shame, it even says Atlas on the thing Lol. But I must say I was really surprised with this thing. It seems very sturdy, and surprisingly well made. I know, I know, I was as shocked as you are. Two o-rings and a little grease and it operates pretty dang smoothly. Mounted it on the rifle and it seems really solid. Now, I haven't shot my rifle with it yet. It may fail catastrophically. We'll have to see. I will let you all know what happens when I can finally get to the range.

Has anyone else on here tried one of these? What was your experience with them?

Cool story, So you bought a knock off and making yourself feel better buy saying your wife has you on a budget,,, WOW....:rolleyes:

Funny thing Dilligaf, do you remember this post? I came across it while researching the knock off bipods.

They have fake Atlas Bipods on Deal Extreme.

My friend had one and I was actually impressed with the quality.

Believe it or not some folks don't have the budget to spend $400 on a bipod. If I can get a bipod that works for me for $60, I'm gonna give it a try.

Cool story about being impressed by your friends fake Atlas though. You must have posted it only to make your friend feel better of course.

I would rather spend 130$ on a harris then 60$ on a knockoff of something usually 400$.
chinese copies rarely last...

That's what I'm wondering, how long will it last? Like I said in my original post, I haven't shot with it yet and it may end up being an utter failure. But I figured for $60 I'd give it a go.

It will hold up fine for most people...

I think that you should support the people that did the research, design, development, etc.... Not the #######s that knock off other people's hard work.

If you ever decide to compete and your bipod breaks, it might be a very expensive lesson to learn.... especially if you travel to the competition

Wow! How convenient that is! Change of opinion now because it's not your buddy lol. I can't quite figure out the "lack of balls" comment. Did your buddy loose em?

Thanks I just ordered two of these . I’m cheap as F@&k . I’d rather spend my cash on higher end optics or rifles . It will be a great replacement to the 2x4 I cut a notch into . Should last me a lifetime with my three outings a year . I agree b&t drsigned it and was first to the plate . And yes BTs warranty is great when you spend 400 on 60 bipod . Times are changing and when products are grossly over priced the Chinese get their hands in . instead of making 100% mark up on 4 bipods the company chooses to make 400% on one . The Chinese come in and kick you in the nuts and steal your product . I really hope they don’t start under cutting my notched 2x4s

Having dealt with B&T Industries on many occasions, It just bugs me that people rather support companies that make Knock off garbage.

You shouldn’t support people ripping you off. If one company can sell it for $60 then good for them, the people charging 400$ better have that much better quality or stop ripping people off. If the 60$ is crap quality (probably is) then they will not last and they guy will end up buying the better quality anyway. It’s good to keep the companies competing for quality and price. If over spending makes you feel good and makes you think you shoot better then perfect lots of people ready to collect your loose cash.

We are not talking about competing companies and products here. The $60 bipod is a direct rip off/counterfeit of the real Atlas. As the OP said, it even has the Atlas name on it. When a company plagerises another company’s R&D to sell an inferior product at 1/4 the price while using the original name, I’ll call it a rip off too!

Yeah stealing the name ain’t cool but I stick with my post. They don’t want people copying there stuff they better be competitive or if it’s so special they would get a patent.

Edit: although I do endorse local and not foreign companies,, I don’t mind spending a little extra for that reason but just saying it’s good to keep companies honest. I try and buy all my gear from local or small dealers. No cabelas for this guy.
