bipod mounting whats the best way

I'm putting a bipod on my savage 340, what I would like to know should I use the screw at near the front of the stock that holds down the barrel or should I make a new mounting point that if I take the bipod off I could use for a sling mount? the bipod was taken off my sks and modifided to fit the stock of the savage and not the barrel like the sks.

add a sling swivel stud and go at 'er with the bipod. The front barrel band screw can be adjusted either way to affect barrel tension and therefore may hlep to improve the accuracy of your rifle.

There is a swivel screw that is a direct replacement for the existing barrel band screw in the forend.
