how do u go about installing a bipod on a 10/22 w/o drilling a hole in the stock for a swivel stud? bipod doesn't fit on the barrel band.

Factory stocks are super cheap to come by anyway...there's always lots on ebay for around $10-20. You can always get a replacement if you screw up. :)

Uncle Mikes part # 1461-2 is made for 10/22 rifles (and others). It contains two normal wood screw style studs as well as a blade style stud that fits on the barrel band. The kit also contains two 1" swivels.

The barrel band is useless, and in my 10/22 experience, actually made the accuracy WORSE.

Essentially, you are altering barrel harmonics - a floated barrel will perform more consistently.

Ditch the barrel band. Better yet, ditch the barrel and buy a Green Mountain or equivalent .920 barrel. You'd be surprised how much more accurate they are.
