Bipod question for 10FP in the field.

I plan to use a 10FP and Elite 4200 4-16x40 for this year's moose hunt.
Should I buy a Harris bipod (S25C 13"-25") for using in the field? Is it practical in the woods to use a bipod? I am thinking of shooting at prone or sitting position.

I only use my bipod on the range...for bush work I use a camera/spotting scope tripod for the sitting postion and a good (TIS M-24) sling for standing/offhand

I made up a small u-shaped channel that I mounted on the tripod I can still use my spotting scope when the rifle is not on it

I have also use my rucksack as a rifle rest

That is too much information more than I want to know or need to know for now .

So I will get a tripod and a spotting scope first .

Or use some shooting sticks, or your back pack as a rest.

The bipod you mentioned is a bit long for prone and if your 6-2" ish could be a bit short for sitting....but will likely work. In fields, the 9-12 works well as a prone unit. In natural terrain (bush etc.), sitting is likely the best you will achieve...add snow and back to sitting.

Fortunately bipods are easily and quickly removed so you don't have to leave it on all the time. If your terrain changes to conditions that suit the rest, pop it on. If not take it off.

Let your hunting topography dicate which one you get. Check one out in the stock and see for yourself...
