Bipod Recommendations?

I recently won a Savage Axis XP in 30-06 at a Ducks Unlimited fundraiser. I know it is just an entry level rifle but I am looking forward to taking it out soon and trying it as I presently do not have any target rifles.

My question is can anyone recommend a decent bipod for it (that won't break the bank!) and where I can find it. The scope is on a Weaver base but there is no system I can see under the barrel for the bipod to attach to.

Thanx for your help!

I would second the Harris. I prefer the 6" - 9" with notched legs.

The search function on this website is very difficult to use reliably.....so rather than start off with a lecture, here's my advice.....

A Harris is a good fit for your rifle, but will cost you 120-150$.

Champion makes one called the pivot traverse for about 70$, and has the same features as a 150$ Harris. Quality may or may not be there, but the risk of that is your call.....

I'd strongly suggest whatever you get, make sure it pivots for uneven ground. Side to Side motion is OK, but not necessary.

Depending on how big you are, 6-9 or 9-13 will be your choice. Bench vs. prone also have to be considered. I have a 12-25 for hunting which is barely low enough for prone, but high enough for sitting or kneeling so get my sightline out of the snow or long grass.

Any other questions, please ask.

Good advice from Gunneegoogoo. Sorry if my advice to use search came off as lecturing - wasn't intended. Anyway, I've written a lot about bipods - perhaps some of it may be of use.

I'm poking fun, mostly....!!! It's so easy to come across rude with writing only.... Sorry, my smart a$$ side came out....
