I guess this can be posted in a lot of sections but its my m305 so ill do it here.

I shoot off a thick wooden bench and the rifle skips back due to the recoil after the ####. Quite annoying when trying to have a consistent sight picture.

I put a few mini sang bags behind it but its not a lot of weight and they don't help much.

Anyone have and tip or jigs to prevent this? Thanks!

Quit using a bipod and shoot off solid sand bags. No bipod, even if you sit the feet on a sand bag will give you as consistent or as solid a rest.

What make is the bipod are you using

I've got a tango down bipod

^^ for the range i don't think hauling around a big sand bag is practical. I tried setting up a rest with blocks and tiny sandbags but the follow up shot was inconsistent and I had to fix it every time.

Also I don't want one of those huge rests that cradle the entire rifle,..

For a bipod with 'Ski' feet you need a small piece of tight woven carpet, a small piece of a indoor outdoor carpet will work, the bipod will slide on this. This is what many FTR shooters use to prevent the skipping effect

So it would slide instead of skip?

To be honest I don't want either! Just to stay in place!

I was thinking of c-clamping a 2x4 onto the bench so I can lean into the shot like you would on an MG...

One thing I've found helps is using my left hand to brace the bipod, pulling it rearwards while leaning into it.

Thought I'd tend to agree that you'll find more joy with some sort of rest. Two cents, there...
