I recently bought a toz 78 as a plinker rifle (100$ cdn). This permits me to convert my ultimate 10/22 to a permanent bench gun. I want to add a bipod and wasn't sure if i would need a fixed or pivot head? was going with a 6-9". also, would like to know of name brands, i know harris is the favorite, but here in canada we sometimes have a hard time getting what we need for our builds.

i have a yukon stock without swivel stud. do i need to get a gunsmith to install one, and can he screw up my stock if not installed properly?

An Uncle-Mikes brand stud can easily be installed by the end user that is comfortable with using power tools. They are usually sold in kits of front/back + sling swivel for < $20.00

Follow the directions in the packaging
use a drill press with padded vise to secure the stock
centre-punch the holes before you drill
mask the hole with tape (drill through it) to minimize the chance of splintering/tearing
drill a smaller hole and then a larger hole, instead of just one small hole

I've done dozens, with great results.

For bi-pods, I recommend the "fixed" version of the Harris line. 'Pods are readily available at all the internet guns stores (Wolverine, TSE, Wholesale etc) even Al Simmons stocks a few. Supply should not be an issue.

me I put a rocky montain on my savage Mark II bv, is the half of the price of a harris and for a .22 is good and of , .22 have no really recoil.

The swivel series of Harris Bipods are superior, IMHO. I have one of each and find myself using the S series every time!

In hunting situations (gophers for me!), you can't count on your shooting surface to be level all the time - but if you're using it as a BENCH gun, I guess you can
