Bird Hunting-Private Property

Looking for someone who would allow me and my dog (German Shorthaired Pointer in training) to hunt pheasants/quail/partridge/ducks/geese on their BC property. Any suggestions on how to make such contacts would be appreciated.

Um, you might try actually getting to know some folks - be introduced by someone they know and trust, or at least introduce yourself, become acquainted, perhaps even do them some favours, and understand their concerns, before asking to hunt. Throwing a request out on the internet might work, but is unlikely and its actually kinda rude. If someone in the city has a BBQ grill and you don't, would you just say, hey i'd like to cook something, is that OK? It's just sitting in you back yard and you're not using it...
My overstated point is not meant to insult you, but to put things in perspective. As Canadian society becomes more and more urbanized, too many beginner hunters just don't understand landowners and their concerns and perspectives. the only way to change that is to get to know them.

Although I do partly agree with what you're saying in regards to new hunters and their lack of understanding, etc (in some instances), I disagree with the totality of your response. Since this is the Internet and you don't know who's behind each post (i.e. Your assumption that I'm a beginner hunter), I have been hunting for over 20 years and lived on land most of my life which provided me the opportunity to train my dogs (I no longer do). I understand land owners' perspectives and concerns quite well and highly respect them. As for your BBQ comparison, I don't believe it mirrors my request as I'm simply asking for some assistance from fellow hunters or land owners who understand my request and take it at face value. I am not going to write a biography of myself, I am simply asking for assistance in providing me with a good opportunity to train my puppy. As far as favors go, I will not discuss them openly on this forum as it goes against the forum rules but if someone is willing to help please PM me.

Thanks for the background info. I did make some unwarranted assumptions about your experience. Might I suggest contacting a local hunting dog club, if such exists in your area? Not all landowners are dog friendly in my experience. I have made many good contacts and been given introductions to good hunting land by fellow Saskatoon Gun Dog club members, we don't exactly advertise hotspots but there are generally enough good places that there are some to share with other like minded people. Good luck in your search!
 
I saw this thread yesterday and did not respond for obvious reasons such as there have been many others like it before and they usually end up with the same responses. I personally think you'll have a tough time finding property this way. Getting places to hunt/train your dog is going to require getting out there and knocking on doors, introducing yourself and an effort on your part. I once answered a local ad looking for a responsible hunter to come help with coyote issues. The lady put me through an interview process that homeland security could not have dreamed up. After 10 minutes I thanked her for her time and told her I would pass that I had other places to hunt coyotes without having to give over my kidney and first born.
