Does anyone know anything about Bison hunting in B.C. other than its limited Entyry? Where do you go and what time of year? I was thinking about trying for a liscence next year and planning a trip if I get one.

If you really want to get a bison for the meat you really don't have to wait there are many ranches in North Eastern BC that for a small fee let you harvest buffalo on their ranches.

My buddy has shot several over the last few years basically the more you pay the larger the buffalo you can shoot.

From what I understand it is only a few hundred dollars to shoot a 2 year old my buddy tells me they have excellent meat.

I've been thinking about bringing one home this fall I'll shoot it and split it and the cost up with a few friends.

Other than that a draw is your only other choice and the odds are pretty steep to get drawn.

I have been applying for a few years now and haven't been lucky enough to get drawn yet.

The October 2009 issue of Sports Afield magazine has a good article on hunting free range bison in the Provinces and Territories FYI.
