I ran into these beasts while I was out hunting in the Kamloops area in early November. I had no idea there were Bison in region 3. I got very close and they didn't seem to be too worried about me.

I had some other interesting animal encounters this year. This guy was very curious and stuck around for quite awhile as I snapped pictures on my phone.

just thought I would share....

Weird, farm escapees? He sure let you get close, that's really cool. Heres a pic from a friend two days ago not far west of PG. Had a chuckle at how coincidental it was after someone posted a lynx thread

cool!

Indeed. "Kamloops area" isn't Region 8. However, parts of Region 8 sure aren't too far from Kamloops. 45 minutes. But then it would still be more accurate to say "Vernon area".

f:P:2:.............Laddies, the Kamlewps Wildlife Park izz in city limits........don'tcha-know.....................:runaway:

Me tinks the OP hazz discuvvered local Mary'sHootchie.
Good chit...........sew they tell me.

Bison are somewhat difficult to keep in normal enclosures [fences]
That's how they got the herd that is now in the halfway river area.
75 animals were brought in as livestock, but they escaped and there
are reportedly some 3000 animals now loose in the area. Dave.

I know of a bison farm or there was one on Hwy 24 near Fawn Lk and even work with a gal who hit one in Langley one night in the fog.
They where escapees from a farm locally.
As for the cat they will sit and watch and as they say Curiosity killed the Cat, but satisfaction brought him back.
Very cool day , thanks for sharing the pictures.
Did you can the CO and ask about those Bison and if they where escapees?
Rob

I know of one bison ranch near Chase, but that's region 3, as is Kamloops itself and all area "near"

My mistake.... I meant region 3-19.... They were on Surrey Lake road, just a few hundred yards off the coquihalla Hwy.

They are a tough lots this morning....
Who in their right mind gives the exact co-ordinates to their best hunting and fishing spot?
Was talking to these guys lastnight at work and they dammed near told me where the gut pile was when I was curious about the Mulie in the sidexside...
Nice rack by the way and Bluey Lake closes in a couple of days...but as now machine is needed with the snow in the higher elevations of the Canyon.

I don't see the harm in it. It's not my best hunting spot, in fact it was my first trip into the area. I was headed into Kamloops for some supplies and just took a drive down this road to have a look. They were right next to the highway and in a no shooting zone, even if they were legal, could not have taken a shot.

And there's nothing up that road either. Wouldn't even bother going there again. Just stay away.....

That's news to me though. Or on there being a bison ranch around there. Mind you I haven't been up there in a couple years now since I moved out of town.
