Well, I went to the range today and (foolishly) shot hr's AR. Then I noticed how much more accurate I was with it than with my M14, because I wasn't flinching. Now I need one.

So, I'm planning to go the stripped lower route. I hear Stag Arms stripped lowers can be had easily and cheaply, does anyone have experience with them?

Any other suggestions for a poor boy trying to build an AR?

Khalnath, there used to be some threads of a few of the guys (Reaper and Robert McC IIRC) not in any rush, just waiting for the parts they needed to show up on the EE. If you're not in a rush you can save a lot of money that way.

WOW I'm relay out of the loop. Anybody know how much Dlask's 80% lowers are?

i got my dlask 80% lower for ~190$
they might be cheaper now

after you buy the 1-3/16 x 16 tap which is needed to thread the buffer/stock hole, you are looking at 250$ that does not include the other drill bits/taps, needed to complete the lower

if you are looking to save money, you want to buy a stag

if you are looking for a fun project that will cost you more in the end, and you have some time and basic skills with tools, go with 80% lower
