im cheap, so cheap my wife nicknamed me cb(cheap basterd).

as im getting older it was getting harder for me to walk to my hunting spots.thought i had a heart attack walking the two miles on the lake to get to the fishing spot while draging 150 lb sleigh.i finally said no more and went looking for an atv. spent a week looking at used old machines . wife finally got tired and said just by a new one. with all the rebates i could not say no so i pounded out a deal on one and pulled the trigger on a arctic cat tbx.the one that has a pickup type box.will see how it does this year, was even thinking of getting trax so i dont have to buy a sled for icefishing.anyone else you these things to hunt with?

I wonder how many times the sales guy had to walk back and forth to the sales managers office when you pounded out your deal lol.

Talk to people who have the tracks. I personally have not used them but three of my mates have them and they are all rusting away behind the shed after one season.

As Bland says no one uses their tracks much after the first season. they slow the machine down alot and create a lot of maintenance issues

I have an arctic cat ATV (actually, two). I don't use them specifically for hunting, other than to get to where we're walking in to to hunt. Which I guess is what you're asking about.

Arctic Cat ATV's are less expensive than others, and frankly are cheaper for a reason. I've had more repairs than some of my friends with other brands. Some of that may be the way I drive though :).

In addition to possibly having more repairs, they also ride higher than other brands. You're sitting up more on an arctic cat. If you sit on a polaris which lets you sit back and is more comfortable IMO, you'll know exactly what I mean right away. Actually - that's the 400/500 series that sit like that. I have a 366 as well, and it sits more back like a polaris.

Either way, they're fine - a lot of it's personal preference. My preference was to get two ATV's for about the same price as one polaris.

so it would make sense to get three year protection plan and ditch the tracks, maybe put chains for the ice.i could have got another yamaha for 2 grand more and the can am was just a stupid price. after reading some posts im gonna cross my fingers .

Good luck with your kitty cat, but by the sounds of your post, you may be beyond the "lets find the deepest mud hole and bust sh!t up" stage LOL so if you only use it for hunting and fishing, I'm sure it will hold up just fine. Now when you mod the ever lovin sh!t out of them like this one on my race team, they go through a lot of "issues" LOL,

Me personally, I'm a Polaris man for power and comfort, and Can Am for shear "holy crap" racing power

I have a 2010 Arctic Cat 450. I love it! I don't abuse it as I'm past the " lets find the deepest mud hole and bust #### up " stage. For dragging logs out of the bush and cruising trails it's great. I am knocking on wood after reading all the ATV threads here though!

That's a mean looking Cat

what kind of problems , they want 500 a year for extended warrenty past the six months, salesman said if theres a problem it should show up by then

Wheel bearings, bushings, front driveshaft ujoint seized, display died, water goes in the key switch and turns the display on and wont let it start. That's off the top of my head. His extended warranty costs him something like $75 per use so he waits till a few things are gone.
About 2000 kms on it so not a lot of use yet.

My neighbor and hunting pal at the camp has an AC 700 tbx. It is really slick for hunting, carries animals, bait in the box far easier than other atvs.

It's only 2 years old but he has had a number of problems with it. I would spend the $$ for extended warranty if available.

That seems like a lot of repairs for a new machine.

when it comes to track kits. iif you dont mind slower but alot more torque buy a camander 4s kit made by kimpex. if you dont want to loose your speed go with the tatoo 4s kit made by camoplast. spending the time in the industry i would not waist money on any of the other kits on the market
