I'd like to take the black badge course this year and want to practice the requirements beforehand. For the one-handed shooting requirement, does one shoot double-action or single-action in the black badge course? I will be using a CZ Shadow, if that matters.

You will always start a drill or string or course of fire double action with that gun unless its an unloaded gun start. So you will need to be able to shoot weak handed double action. But its really not so hard.

During the course drills, divisional requirements are set aside.

If you choose to keep the shadow in your holster with the hammer down and a round in the chamber, you'll have to fire the first shot on any of the drills (Left handed, right handed or both hands) double action.

If you choose to keep the shadow in your holster with the hammer cocked and the safety applied, you can shoot your first shot in any drill single action. (of course, you'll have to get used to deactivating the safety on the draw)

Since you'll likely shoot the gun in production division after completing the black badge, it would be advantageous to do all your drills in the BB the same as you would in competition - with a DA first shot - (hammer down in the holster) the experience will be good and you'll be able to get some analysis from your instructor that will help you later in your shooting.
