Black Badge round count

455 rounds

Bring 500 for each session and you will have penty.

I have seen people do it in 450ish and others 700+

I always suggest having 1000 rounds at the ready. I mean you will end up using them at matches anyway.

We got to spend the last of our 500 rounds at some neat senarios, after everybody else left!! Then we cleaned up the instructors rounds too, with his fancy tricked out STI Edge. I have since bought 3 STI's, good salesman!!

put it this way.. you will look like an idiot if you are walking around the range with your hand out saying.. "can you spare some lead" (like someone had to at ours..;)

bring 1000 and just take back what you don't use.. the remainder won't last once you get into it ;)

I always tell my students to bring 500 rounds. most do it in around 400 but it all depends on the slowest student. i try not to single out a student so i make everyone shoot to they all have passed the qualification before moving onto the next one. in the last 5 years i have not had a course go over the 500 rounds but i always bring spare ammo just in case for the students.

what exactly happens in the course?

Mine is in a couple weeks but I wouldn't mind having an idea of what to expect.
Maybe get some practice in.

It is a progressive technique

Start off with draw and one shot.

Then draw and two.

Draw two mag change two .

Multiple targets

Moving etc.

It is a fun time.

in my opinion, that is the worse thing you Can do. you have had no formal instruction so anything you do will probably be wrong. This is not meant as an insult just reality. when you develop bad habits the BB instructor has to spend more time breaking these bad habits and it slows down the whole class. be patience and wait for proper instructions.

good point.

It was more curiosity than anything else.
I'm so excited about this that its driving me nuts.

I want to start competing!!

rounds and info...

Here's the covering letter that goes out to my prospective students - covers pretty well all the questions I've seen.

As far as shooting ahead of time - absolutely! Certainly some bench rested shooting at 25 meters to make sure the gun is sighted in for your ammo. Enlist the help of an experienced shooter if needed. KNOW that you can hit an 8" circle at 25, taking lots of time if needed - a lot of easier then to graduate to doing it in two seconds from the holster :)

BTW, there is still room for a couple more students at our June 6-7 course here in Prince George :)

Cheers
Gunnar
