Fail!!!!!
As long as he keeps the shotgun cased when actively hunting, and only brings it out at night in his tent there is no issue! You can carry whatever you want whenever you want as long as you are not hunting! I've talked to several CO's and it doesn't make a difference if your shooting a .22 or a 50 bmg as long as its clear you aren't hunting! Anytime of the year anywhere! Stop spreading this B.S. About having to have a proper license and tag, and be in the right season! If it is clear you are not hunting then none of this applies.

But he is hunting. Unless he only keeps it in his tent, or encased.

Ive agreed with you and psoted several times in threads concerning target shooting during closed hunting seasons. But hes asking about carrying a firearm during an archery hunt. Totally different. I too have spoken to COs about target shooting, and the response is "as long as its obvious you are not hunting". Which he is.
