Black Bear site prep and starter baits

Old nag was THE BAIT, when suck things were allowed here. It even carried itself to the bait site.

I was going to head out this weekend and do some site preparation. The three snow storms we just got kind of ruined those plans. With any luck I will be out in the next week or so to trim back any new brush and start to get the bait sites ready. i have a winters worth of bacon grease and foo
food scraps saved up.

I bow and arrow carp in the spring and freeze them in black garbage bags. Once the sun hits it they stink. Bears seem to love them and lick up all the eggs that pour out. Dog food and molasses make up the filler

Trying marshmallow maple syrup and cherry jello mixture as my started bait. I let it boil for 45 min or so letting the smell get into the air. Sounds like a good plan but hasn't worked yet so far this year.

Our bears seem to have transitioned from beaver to more natural foods like skittles, licorice and candy hearts. Just in time
too; the local beavers were taking a pounding.
