Black chrome plating flaking off the SKB

Just giving my Ithaca/SKB O/U a once over, as I just bought my upland bird licence. Seems there is two spots near the upper breach where the black chrome is starting to flake away from the shotgun barrel. One place about 1/4 inch long, and the opposite side just starting.

Was wondering if any other SKB owners have experienced this too?

On the outside of the barrel Grouse Man. Top breach area, both corners.

Mine has wear spots but now signs of flaking....

Rare to the extreme, that finish is generally one of the most durable. Unfortunately, due to it's high toxicity, it was discontinued. I don't know of anyone that can re-plate that finish. An off chance for info may be Ron Sharpe in Ontario. I have never dealt with him but see his name bandied about as the SKB go to guy at 905-774-6368.
