Can this magazine be used at the full 50 round capacity in Canada? I understand there are models specifically for AR 22 conversions like the CMMG (with fixed feed towers) and also versions for the 15/22 that have interchangeable feed towers (can be fit to a 10/22).

Brownells sells and ships the one I'm interested and it comes with full the capacity ready for use. The only one I can find in Canada comes pinned at 5 but this is also the one that has the interchangeable feed tower.

TLDR.... Can I use the full 50 round capacity legally if I were to obtain the model specific to the AR 22 conversion and not the one that could be adapted to a 10/22?

Cheers

I have a BD drum for my .22 ARs. I also had one for my 15-22. Mine was purchased from Questar. They are more of a novelty item than a useful magazine. They are awkward, fragile, and very time consuming to load. Mine only got used a few times before being forgotten on the shelf.

Hmmmm... I appreciate the honest review. I might be better off spending my money on some more cmmg 25 round mags in that case.

I have found the 25 rd Black Dog mags with steel feed lips to be the best (see the mags at the bottom right of the picture). The 2 CMMG mags that came with my CMMG upper were terrible, but perhaps the design has been improved since then. The CMMG mags I have are in the top left of this picture:

I picked up my conversion kit (just the bolt not a complete upper) last year and the mags that came with it have actually been good to me. Where did you source your BDM mags from?

I got some from Questar but most of the mags came with the used DPMS .22 bull barrel upper that I purchased from a fellow CGNer on the EE. BTW the DPMS is an awesome .22 upper - far more accurate, and reliable with a much wider range of .22 ammo, compared to either of the previous uppers I owned (16" M4 style uppers from CMMG and TacSol).
