So there was a sale on ammo @ BOGO at 50% off. I was able to pick up 600 rounds of Winchester 100 round value packs of 165gr FMJ .40SW for a total of $194.89 Also got 40 rounds of AE .223rem5 for 14.53. Gotta love Black Friday. Anyone else pick up any deals on Ammo.etc?

OH OH!

Sounds like someone,.................a Canadian, purchased ammo at Dicks in Buffalo and then posted it on a public forum!

OP, if you did buy ammo at Dicks in Buffalo, you better check on the implications of an "alien" (non US citizen), buying and transporting ammo in the US.

There is a 'sticky' on this at the top of the ammo section.

Basically if a Canadian is discovered transporting ammo, guns, ITAR items, etc. in the US, fines, impounding items and even jail time are very probable.

If I were you, I would just delete this thread.

Nice 'score' on the ammo though. Consider yourself fortunate you did not get caught with it.

Not if you have a valid US Hunting license!

Hunting license allows you to POSSESS ammo in the US. You still can't bring a single round BACK to Canada without an EXPORT permit.

Canada Customs allows you to import like 5000 rounds per person for personal use... but that's not the law you're breaking. If you get busted LEAVING the US with ammo (like at one of the many pre-crossing inspections I've been through), you are in DEEEP deep sheeit.

Seriously - NOT worth the risk at all...

I asked the American custom guys and they told me if your bringing back hunting ammo and no a ton of it they don't care. I brought pack 200 rounds of 9mm and was stopped and they said happy shooting and I went home. Just make sure you ask for an officers badge number and name when you sdk them on the way over.

Classic formula for failure right here!! The law is the law! Next time you might not get a border guard that is so kind. Could have ended VERY differently!

OK in qik reply to being in possesion of a hunting licence. AGAIN I WILL REPEAT MYSELF. regardless of your citizenship which includes a U.S. born resident AND you are a NYS resident IF YOU DON'T POSSESS a N.Y. STATE pistol permit you cannot be in possesion of any pistol ammo. (excluding .22). ####'s sporting can be in large doo-doos's for failing to ask for the permit an N.Y. state will prosecute. Then there's the issue of you being in possession.
Govern yourself accordingly. I'm involved in firearms training an shooting in NYS an run training classes. If anyone here needs clarification on these matters feel free to PM me.

Wow....it's been how many years and this stuff keeps coming up. Isn't there a sticky somewhere on Canadians buying ammo in the U.S and illegally exporting it?

EDIT: Sticky is right at the top of the forum. Should be mandatory reading for newcomers.

I know this is an old thread, but the US border people do not have a problem - it is Homeland Security people that do random checks just BEFORE you reach the border crossing. There is a zero tolerance policy for breaking the ATF rule[
