I want to make up either a Ruger SR22 or Remington 597 so that it resembles the Colt C8 with an EoTech sight my son carries as his duty long gun. He likes firearms and I thought it would make a nice present for an ERT guy.
I don't know either gun so I would love some help on which to choose and what you would recommend for accessory purchases. Advice on where to get them would sure be appreciated too.
I'll direct this to some of the people who built the fantastic guns I've seen pictured but anyone is welcome to pitch in.

Your best bet is to buy the carry handle, hand guard, front site and some cheap magazines off of here:

You may have to do a bit of modifications to get everything to fit.

For the magazine what you do is gut out the airsoft mag and jb weld the inside of it to the bottom of the ruger magazine if your doing the sr-22. in my opinion it looks better than the 597 and is easier to work with. you may need to rough it up with sandpaper first though before using the epoxy.
