hey guys,

I may be buying this Browning Grade VII 4 barrel set but this wearing is bothering me. I asked if it could be reblued and he said it wasn't bluing but some coating. Is there any way to make this black again without it looking botched or having to strip everything? Does anyone know of a good gunsmith around Vancouver who could help me? Thanks a lot!

Look like it's made of Aluminum. Steel usually isn't that color, even when polished. Only thing you can do is take it to a shop that does Anodizing and have it stripped and re-anodized.

The area where the bluing is worn is where the gun is carried and so will wear relatively fast as acids from the fingers do their work. You could use touch up blue and rpeat as required as you might lose the gold inlays if you hot blue or even rust blue the receiver.

I have a Citori that is like that now, I used to shoot skeet. The Citori has sharp corners which is uncomfortable to carry, I often thought of taking a file to it and probably should have and reblued it. I am not sure what blue would do to the gold inlays and are they really gold??

I found one gunsmith in Canada who said he could fix it without touching the gold inlays. Klaus Hiptmayer. But everyone else has said I'm screwed basically lol.

Yeah it's worn because the original owner held it in that position, but I rarely do. It's either on my shoulder or the grip is in my hand.
