Black powder cartrige loads

I am in need of some info. Looking to load up some 45-70 with black powder just for fun. Anyone know where I can find some recipes or if you know one. Iam going to use some cast bullets from the bullet barn.What is a good powder to buy.
 
theres a book by mike venturino and steve garbe , called the reloading primer, first class info for blackpowder cartridges, shows a lot of diferent calibers, i use 60 grs ffg goex a 1/16 inch card wad compress the powder about 1/8 inch seat your535 gr postell bullet to sit against the powder, use spg lube,,my bullets are 16-1 tin to lead, works for me, there is lots of variations i have shot 2 inch groups at 200 yds with this load, good luck,,, wade

67 grains of pyroRS, beeswax wad, and a grease cookie made with Paul Mathew's formula will make that bullet fly really well, and keep the fouling down.

To reload BP cartridge forget most of what you have learned loading smokeless, make sure you have the right equip......FFG powder or Goex Cartridge.....proper BP bullet with BP lube( don't think Bullet barn knows what that is)...blow tube...drop tube.....proper wads. First determine Max. Oal. with bullet engaging rifling, determine how much powder you need to drop tube to completely fill case to base of bullet, add .030 or .060 veg. wad, experiment with lots of case neck tension and no case neck tension, use blow tube between shots, clean every 5 shots or so, enjoy!!
