Hawken 50cal.....mine is accurate with open sights to about 130-150yds with .490 Speer roundball and 105g of FF pyrodex powder.

My first animal taken with a BP is posted in the Hunting forum.

T/C is a top brand.

You want a muzzle loader or a metallic cartridge rifle? I'm planning to work up some blackpowder loads for my 1885 in 45-70. If you want to go that route then I'd say get a Browning 1885 if you can find one, or a reproduction by Pedersoli (Rolling Block would be my first choice). If you've got lots of sratch to blow on a beauty rifle, Shiloh, C. Sharps or Lonestar are the way to go. Just be prepared to spens $2500-$4000 depending on how your tastes run. You can get a Pedersoli Sharps or Rolling Block for around $1000 or $1200 IIRC.

Knight .50 cal inline. 240 grain for deer, 300 grain for moose. With 3 pyrodex pellets accurate out to 200 yds. Hard on the shoulder tho. with 2 pyrodex pellets accurate out to 125 yds. This is what I use but there are other good rifles on the market.

I paid about $300.00 back 6 years ago. some cost about $500--$700. accessories are kinda pricey, with powder + bullets about $100.00 before you can even fire a shot. If you can get a cabela's, S.I.R. or Bass Pro catalog, have a look at them Or their websites.
