black powder hunting wih a smootbore shotgun

Has anyone tried deer or bear hunting with a side by side black powder hammer gun if so can u share your experiences. My buddies think I'm crazy for wanting to take a deer with a ml shotgun instead of my inlines. The deer walk rite under my stand and bear over bait is close so I'd at most be shooting 35 yards. One baRrel .715 round ball the other a 1oz load of 00 buck
