Black Sheep Brass Operations Update 2020

Hello everyone,

Just thought I would post a quick update for everyone, even though I doubt many people are that concerned.

So starting now, going forward at least for the foreseeable future I will be interacting less with the consumer market. I am seeing a huge uptick in demand from the commercial operators who I support within Canada and the United States. One of the whole justifications of my business was to support the Canadian commercial re-manufacturing market when the USA forgot about us again on the "next great ammo shortage". Well, its here. What I am hoping is that what will happen is it will lead to more Canadian manufactured ammunition available for you the consumer to purchase from your local retailers.

Just to quantify what a huge uptick means is I went from operating and supplying commercial operators from stock, to having a 2,000,000 piece back order, in 4 days.

Good luck everyone.

It’s always great to hear people having success in those difficult times.

Hope the best for you !

I was actually wondering the other day how you were making out. I seem to recall you sold off some equipment back in the spring, and I hadn't heard anything since, had me questioning if Black Sheep was sticking around. I've got friends and family around Cobourg so it was partly a matter of keeping my finger on the pulse of communities I know.

Glad to hear you are thriving.

Lake City brass in Canada now is scarce. I have a bit around, but there is no new supply of it coming into Canada for the near future anyways. Especially since the AR-15 ban there is not enough demand for the distributors to import anything in 5.56 or .223. This in conjunction with the great US ammo shortage there is no incentive for the American market to supply the Canadian market. Unfortunately the economics of Americans willing to pay $560(USD) per 1,000 of 9mm re-manufactured ammunition makes Canada a very very low priority.

It's a bit of a logistical nightmare currently trying to get together enough brass to get everything filled, and it will only become more challenging. I am hoping to get my new facility built over the next couple months to allow me more space to get a few new pieces of equipment and allow my guys to come back to work. Right now we are in too small of space to facilitate social distancing.

Am happy for your success.
I still have some of your processed .223 brass to reload...and then....? I guess I'll just have process the other few thousand cases I have all by my little old self.

Are there particular Canadian remanufactured ammunition brands / retailers we should be looking for that are using the good brass from Black Sheep?

Congrats! I'm just about at the point where I need to put in my yearly order of 1k .223, haha. I do high volume for a bolt gun, but not by AR standards ;)

I am not sure during well is an apt description. This business is feast or famine. I have been supplementing the business with my real job for 5 of the past 7 years. I am just hoping that I can make up some lost ground over the next 6 months.
