Black squirrels vs brown squirrels

First time I ate N-Ont black squirrels was after whacking a couple of pesky ones, and between wondering about the taste feeling & guilty about wasting them. I fried then stewed them and had them w/buttermilk biscuits & pint of beer. They were surprisingly good. For comparison, I'd had loads of wild rabbit while growing up, and they easily beat rabbit for taste and tenderness. The meat on the ones I've had has been closer to domestic rabbit than wild ones, you just need more of them. If you can get over their resemblance to rats when living, and scrawny cats when skinned, they're pretty good!

Stuff one in the Thanksgiving turkey - whole but skinned and gutted. It freaked the in-laws right out last year.
