Picked up my big Smith from Casey at Tac Ord

Casey refinished the gun in black fit blank adapter instead of trying factory comp...it can be swapped on and off just like the factory comp...

I love how this one turned out.....

No more massive concussion when shooting as a cost of little more muzzle flip... Lots of folks down south ditch the comps...

Looks good and I like the solution for the factory comp. I may have to get something similar done to the comp on mine. It's not so much the concussion that gets to me but more the odd bits of I guess burnt powder residue that comes back.

I've changed out the grips from the Hogue set it came with to a set of Jordan Trooper stocks by Herritt's to tame the recoil effects a little.

I shoot a variety of cast and jacketed, light and heavy loads and it does well with anything I feed it. Cast, 350gr, 370gr, 400gr and 440gr. Jacketed, a 'modified' 325gr Speer HP, 350gr HP both Sierra and Hornady and a 400gr Sierra. I did try some 500gr Hornady but for me, I found once I got to 500gr, accuracy started to drop off.

Nice job Paulinski! How did you luck into the black comp? Lots of people were hunting for those, there was a run done but they got snapped up pretty quick.

How is the finish in person? More Black or Grey? Did Casey have to strip down the 500 to coat it?

The blank comp I got on a group buy over on Cast Boolits forum..

It required a fair bit of fitting.. Casey said he could make one non problem if need arises..

The finish is really black in person.. Yes the gun was disassembled and stripped before refinish..

The black looks really good, how tough is the finish supposed to be? Have you tried it with the blank comp yet, I have the same revolver and it sounds interesting.
