Did Ruger manufacture Blackahwk 44, stainless, with 6-1/2 barrel? Although, I like 7-1/2” barrels, but seems to me that as a secondary sidearm, 6-1/2” barrel could be a nice balance between portability and revolver effectiveness. Longer barrel gives bit more muzzle velocity and, at leas for me, it is easier to hit the target with longer sight distances.

Thanks.

While true that a particular revolver would have a higher muzzle velocity with a long barrel, rather than cutting the barrel back, it does not necessarily hold true that a longer barrelled revolver produces higher velocities than the shorter barrelled guns. The cylinder/barrel gap, the machined angle of the barrel throat, and bore constrictions and finish all potentially effect the velocity of the bullet.

My preference with the Backhawk is the 45/8", and I can tolerate 51/2", but I'm not too fussy about handgun barrels longer than that, despite the fact that the most accurate revolver I've ever owned was an 8" Dan Wesson.

To answer your question, it does seem to me that a stainless 61/2" SBH is available.
