Hello,

Does ANYONE stock Blackhills Ammunition in Canada? Seems One Shot got their panties in a bunch when someone asked some stuff in the thread in their area and deleted a bunch of posts and locked the thread. Their answer was something to the effect that "We're busy with other things". That's great, but isn't an answer, so folks who have interest must look elsewhere, so....

Yeah I really have NO clue what happened with my thread in OSTS section.

Seems like it was a pretty straight forward question, but knowing Darren he must have his reason(s)s for it.

That said - Tier One Armory does carry the BH ammo, but if like me are located in the socialist province of Quebec, you're SOL and TOA doesn't have the permits (whichever they are) to ship to Quebec..

I've tried the 68gr and 77gr. BHA some years ago and was not impressed with the quality for dollar I paid (I paid $28/50 & $36/50 respectively from Milarm).
If you are ok with the price of this stuff, go for it - but you should really consider hand-loading as it's a fraction of the cost for better ammo.

hahahahahaha yeah we all replied tier one armoury and all our answers got deleted because god forbid someone purchases something not from them, maybe have it shipped to a friend in a neighboring province and pick it up from him?

Thanks for the feedback beltfed. When you say some years ago are we talking 20 years ago, or 2-3 years ago?

I agree with you that hand-loading is cheaper, but only when you're recouped the $1500 you invested in quality reloading equipment, which for my case isn't that great of an investment as I don't do alot of precision shooting out of my 14.5" Adcor. The idea of getting some heavier pills is to know what it can do, but I don't need 500rounds of them to be able to figure that out.

Also, at $28/50 it comes out to be 0.56/bullet, certainly not that much more than an overpriced box of AE tactical that some charge $10.99 for (so 0.545/bullet)...just sayin'.

So that $1,500 investment will take a long, long time to pay off lol.

Well that would certainly explain it. I purposely started a thread in OSTS's section for a reason, it's because I was asking Darren - not asking everyone to pitch in their suggestion to where else to buy them...c'mon now..!

And yes, if I don't find another retailer I'll be getting a friend in Ottawa to get them for me.

 Really?! I'm so sick of this country being torn apart from the inside out. We should just toss the charter in the fire! Doesn't seem to matter anyway.
We should be able to ship anything anywhere in this country.
Quebec IS still a part of this country isn't it?

I'm guessing, but I'd say around 2005-2006. I say that as cautionary as my somewhat flat experience may be (and apparently has been) great for others.
At that time you could buy components and load with match bullets for around 30 cents a round, so still some savings to be had.
I went for a lot of years not wanting to get into hand loading (got into it around 2003).
I saw it as a hassle, expensive, time consuming, etc. but In the end, have kicked myself for not getting into it sooner.
For anyone in the firearms hobby other than say the occasional pinker, I would encourage them to at least try it.
If you are toying with getting into competition or shoot more than once or twice a month even it is worth looking into, if nothing but gain a better understanding of the dynamics of ammunition.

When it boils down, loading will always cost less than factory ammo (milsurp aside) and quality equipment rarely burns out or goes obsolete and holds it's resale value. You can get into it for $500 easy if you look for kits on sale and gently used equipment on the EE. Having equipment sitting in the corner doesn't stop one from buying factory ammo either, so it is always an option to hand load or not.
