Have a Remington 700 in 458 winchester that I've been loading with cast bullets and SR 4759. Talked to a couple of guys at the wildlife federation who shoot black powder sillouette. My loads of 32grs and 500 gr cast are great on paper and fly about 1100 - 1300 FPS, but I'd like to try it on some steel chickens ect. Any ideas on type of powder and grain weights.

I would suggest lubing the bullets with SPG lube from buffalo arms you can also buy lymans black gold lube from wholsale sports I make my own from lard and bees wax a card behind the bullet helps I bought a wad punch from buffalo arms mounts on loading press works slick 45-70 size will work fine in yours to and 60to 70 gr. by volume FFG . your rifling may be to shallow for black but can't hurt to try . I have a 500 Jefferies built on a ruger 1 action that I shoot with 550 gr cast bullets and 120gr. of FFG. it's more pleasent to shoot it recoil wise with the black than the smokeless Ps I forgot to add make sure no space between powder and bullet you may already know this but though I would add just in case
