Bladetech 5.11 holster.... paddle vs belt

I was considering buying a Fobus holster, but after hearing enough people saying they are too tight and not adjustable, and praising the Bladetech, I think I am going to go that route.

I am not sure if I should get the belt or paddle holster. I am just a newbie, I am not skilled, and this will be my first holster. I would PREFER to go the paddle route if it is a reliable paddle holster (since I won't need to buy a duty belt on top of the holster) that won't come flying out when I draw. Do the Bladetech paddle holsters stay put well? I don't know anyone who has one of these holsters so I can't really try either before I buy.

Are both the Bladetech belt and paddle holsters IDPA legal?

Thanks!

PS - If you guys recommend the belt version, can you tell me where to buy it? I can only find the paddle version.

Paddle holsters are approved, I love mine.

My holster never moves from my belt, drawing and holstering isn't complicated by the holster....nice and smooth.

Where are you in ontario, I'd be willing to let you look over mine before you decide to buy, its for a G17

Onogath.... thanks very much for the offer. I am about 1.5 hours away though :(. I'm not too worried as the holster is only about $40.

So you have the paddle and use it for IDPA? What kind of belt do you use with your pants when using this holster? Think I can I get away with a non-leather belt (I usually use those canvassy/fiber belts with my jeans as I hate leather belts lol), or do the paddle holsters do better with the rigidity of a leather belt?

I forgot to add that this holster would be for a Norc 1911 Police Model. Will be getting a Glock and accompanying holster once I can shoot the G17 centered :p

edit.... whoa, what a minute, if I am reading correctly the 5.11 says it comes with both belt loop AND paddle.... am I right?

Yup.

Had one for my Commander. Awsome.

Waiting for 4 weeks now for one to craddle my Glock.

(a month plus backorder, and waiting for sh*t sucks donkey sausage.)

If anyone knows a retailer who actually has them in stock...

I use a leather belt, the 1.75" one with two sets of holes and 2 belt pins. Although, its probably only a matter of time before I get a riggers belt or something like that.
