Bladetech DOH pointing at my leg?

So I bought a new style Bladetech holster for my CZ Shadow and the drop/offset portion points it directly at my leg.

Can I remove the drop/offset section and run the holster directly off my belt? If I do it that way it sits flat and points straight down, but it's a lot closer to my body even tho it doesn't point at my leg.

I can't see a way to orient the drop/offset piece to fit, and it doesn't seem to bend at all

FYI, you won't be DQd at an IPSC match for this, or virtually any IDPA or multigun match either.

The DOH part is removable. The belt clip unscrews from the DOH piece and affixes directly to the holster.

Thanks. I personally don't really like this holster, not sure why so many recommended it ha. Live and learn

Can the plastic bar across the back of the holster attachment move? I can see that it's not real snug on my cr speed belt, I tried moving it up but felt like I was going to break it

The BT IDPA kit that I bought didn't have a DOH, the holster fit nice and snug on the belt. I'd imagine that would fit better with the IDPA "ideal" carry. With the DOH, it moves the grip of the gun down and "out", without exceeding limits, but still keeps the barrel tucked in (yes, aiming right at your thigh). Remember holstering the gun is never against the clock, so look, clear obstructions like jackets (hopefully no obstructions for IPSC), and holster carefully, and you'll be fine.

Agreed, I don't like the DOH either. My holsters are all the same way I would use for IDPA.

The thing about removing the DOH, whenever I have done this in the past I have had trouble getting the screws back in.

Each screw sets into a small female piece, but that tends to spin around without catching on the kydex making it quite difficult to actually tighten them back down.

So I took the drop/offset portion off and it fits nicer for me, gun is a lot higher on my waist now so my draw requires a little more body English to get it out

So now can anyone chime in on the plastic bar across the back of the doh belt attachment part? It looks like you can take a flat head and push on 2 tabs and slide it up so it hugs the cr belt tighter, but it feels like I'm going to break it and I don't want to buy a new one

IIRC, it doesn't slide up or down, but pops out and back in at the height you want.

Snaps up, down, you can make the adjustment easier my flexing the belt loop vertical pieces. You'll want to match that exactly to the belt you'll wear (or it'll be a sloppy draw :)

Tanks, I'll have another look.

Also, to continue my rants :) my Cr versa mag pouches with the CZ adapter installed works OK, but I find I have to crank the silver tension knob so much to get solid retention that it bends the mag pouch. I might try to have a spacer built for each one do it doesn't require it to be so tight.

Are the other brand of mag pouches the same? I guess this could be remedied by two tensioning knobs (top and bottom) so the gap stays equal..or again, a wider spacer. I don't think I installed it incorrectly, but if so please let me know

Awesome, now the tension bar fits perfectly. What a world of a difference this is for me.

I did the dry fire portion of my BB course with it setup right out ofthe box, and it was very awkward. Now my draw and comfort level is way up with these minor tweaks.

It pops out with a screw driver...it bends a lot without brealing..
Look closely and you will see a small cutout on one side for screw driver..pop it up a bit then it rotates

The DOH should have been an upgrade for me but was strange for me, too. My draw was full of shaky inconsistent movement from the holster with the DOH. Took it out and mount it back with the tek-lok directly on the belt - way better. Gun is nice and tight on the body and has a straight draw now.
Learning by doing.

Ok so the mag pouch thing was starting to bother me quite a bit..so I cut a piece of cardboard and put a hole in it to pass the screw through and placed it in behind the CZ/Beretta adapter piece, now my mag fits perfectly and the slit/space up the mag pouch is perfectly even.

Just thinking about it now, but I could have probably used a flat washer to accomplish the same thing...I might try that tomorrow instead.

Phew, now I'm starting to feel better about my gear and all the $$$ it cost

Thought I would throw up a vid for kicks

I installed it horizontally, and one of the two small holes goes through the tensioning knob. Maybe my spacers are undersized defects?

Let me know, I tried to orient the spacers differently but that was the only way that I could see them fitting. Check the vid, you can see when I shine the light on the cardboard mod

Here's a pic of mine, screw in the top hole

hi Danimal,

I was able to adjust my DOH just enough so that its no longer pointing at my leg and the draw feels much better also. i just added 2 metal washers, one for each of the bottom screws and it flattened out the angle just enough.

Yep mine is installed the same way,but notice how the opening on yours is kinda bent? With the cardboard installed on mine it's perfectly straight, and I don't even need to tighten the tension knob one bit.

I can tell too because of how many threads are showing on the back side of yours, mine were the same but I didn't like like that

Humm... this is normal  , I thought you mean really bent

Personnally I don't think cardboard is a good thing, if it rains you may have some surprise. The mag pouches are made for that, just turn the screw until you get the right tension !

After several matchs and rides in the trunk they'll be all scratched & you won't care about the "bent" then :D

Danimal. I think you would have liked the holster much better keeping the DOH there. Like Onogoth mentioned, it is not a problem at all. Regular holsters held tightly to the body point at the wearer. Unless you stand there with your legs together all the time, these types of belt holsters are going to point at you. As to your issue with the tek-lok, there is the new kind which you have, and the old kind which I have. The new one, you pop the thing out and move it to where you want it. On the old one there was one bar, on a screw so you could put it exactly where you want it and actually apply pressure to the sides of the belt, ideal for the CR Speed as the holster will never slide on the belt when you take it off. With the old tek-lok, once you set it where you want on the belt it can be made to stay there.

As for Mag Pouches, I thought long and hard about it, and realized that the Versa Pouches would not work since they really limit the thickness and width of your belt. I prefer the Blade Tech Since Competition series. They have a tek-lok, allow for total angling of the pouch for you, and they have two set screws to set retention. They are molded to fit your specific magazine so they always fit great.

If you want to PM me, I could trade you an old tek-lok unit for your new one so you could lock that holster right in place on your CR Speed Belt.

On another note, I just got the new DOS speed cut holster, really nice, just had to modify the barrel end since it is made for the normal gun, but we in Canada had to have the silly extra couple of millimeters of barrel.
