Hi I apologize if this is the wrong thread, but this is my first post here. I had a question about the Blank/flare pistols that can be purchased on Canada.

Can they be purchased online through an American site? Will it clear customs?
What defines what is legal and not?
I have only found one Canadian site that sells them replicaairguns.com, are there anymore?
Some guns come with flare adaptors to shoot flares, but most guns have a rod that prevents anything from being fired from the barrel, how do these flare adaptors work?

Thank for your time.

Hi. I think, but am not sure, that flare guns are restricted for export by the U.S. government.
"...What defines what is legal and not?..." The Firearms Act, now part of the Criminal Code of Canada. Section 3, as I recall.
Laws do not tell you what is legal. Only what is not.

Any marine store sells flare guns, they are a requirement to be carried on my boat and are not restricted in any way. I am required to have these on board by the Canada Shipping Act.
However, depending on your province, there may be legislation about blank firing replicas. Ontario has a Replica Firearms Act and an Ammunition Act.

Do your homework.

"...requirement to be carried on my boat..." Daft isn't it? Had a CO, long ago, who, at one time, had a boat on Lake Champlain. Flare guns were required on the PQ side, but illegal on the NYS side.
