For theatrical purposes I need to load some loud noise blanks in 30'06. Got a range of Reliant powder from Red Dot to RL 19. Any ideas? Thanks...

Easier said than done. Blanks don't use regular powders for one. Nor will they cycle an semi-auto without a BFA. BFA's only come for battle rifles.
Be easier to use a .308 and try and find some milsurp blanks at a gun show. You'd still need the BFA for a semi-auto though.

I forget the name of the actor but a number of years ago he was killed by a blank in a .44 magnum. The concussion hit his head & caused fatal brain damage.

Just prime some resized brass without powder or a bullet (duh).

It won't cycle in a semi but it will go bang. I've seen it done with a pistol.

Young fella named John Eric Hexum if I recall....

To answer the question, you want to use a fast burning powder; Red Dot might work but a faster powder might be better. It won't cycle semi-autos, and they are still hazardous.

Thanks for the quick responses and the good advice on safety. Just shooting at an unmanned camera at over 15 yards and no one down range.

Black powder. Makes smoke for effect as well :D

I believe Bruce Lee's son was killed when someone loaded live ammo instead of blanks or switched a gun...something like that. At any rate, he was killed by a bullet, not the concussive shock from a blank.

I thought it was more that someone loaded dummy rounds for a scene. They then unloaded the dummy rounds and loaded blanks for the shootout. The problem was that one of the dummy rounds had broken, causing the bullet to come loose from the casing and remain in the chamber. the gun expert missed it, and when the blank fired, it provided enough power to propel the bullet.

I believe they had fakes in the cylinder of a revolver. Prop bullets so the revolver looks loaded. Once of them shook loose from the cylinder, into the barrel. Later a blank was fired sending the fake flying. Wrangler didn't clear the bore.

For the record...
I tried 10 and 15 grains of Red Dot. The 15 made a pretty good bang but far short of the real thing. It did the job though. Thanks...Y
