There used to be a lot of .22 cal starting pistol around used for dog training and even bear scarers. These were at top break revolver and were 8 or 9 shot. CTC used to sell them but I don't see them anymore. Did these disappear as prohib's? Althouch the were cast white metal and quite small I suppose someone could think they were the real thing.
Anyone have info on these?

Most were prohibited, then athletics stopped using them altogether. They still make 12 ga bear bangers (they come in 1 0z slugs too?), I don't understand why anyone would terrorize a dog with such a thing, but that's just me.

Back in the 60’s we bought them to use while
playing cop’s and robber’s etc
More effective than say Bang Bang or a cap pistol
You could buy the gun , spare loader’s and caps
for a few $$$
We used to buy a thousand caps to keep the game going
The gun’s didn’t hold up and had to be replaced
Now, RCMP ERT would be coming through the bush looking for you!lol
What happened to this Country???

Depends on the starting pistol, some were prohibited because they could be converted to fire real ammo (then being prohibited as short barreled pistols). If they were solely blank guns that can't be converted they would be s.84 firearm exempt but would be legally a firearm if you use it to stick up a bank.

I see a couple of blank guns in Canadian stores, (not site sponsors)
