I am just wondering what I might have here. These belong to a friend who is not well. Case heads are marked "IVI- 82- and a small circle with a cross in it" while the stripper clips are also marked "C1-IVI-81". They are loaded blanks with the crimped neck. Any help appreciated as to origin and possible value. Dave

7.62 nato blank ammo, manufactured for the department of national defence.

Its on stripper clips, and manufacture in '82, so I would imagine it was designed for use in the FN C1 or C2.

Value? Considering whoever initially acquired it didn't pay much for it..... I'd say .30 to .50 cents a round, max, to the right collector.

Thanks Eric. I also believe that there is a clip for one of the FN C1 or 2 rifles here. It has to be a twenty round clip so I expect it should be pinned to 5 rounds? I guess I may post them on the EE here. Dave

Are you talking about a clip or a magazine? There is a difference. A clip is a device used to charge ammunition into a magazine.

A clip doesn't need to be pinned, a magazine does.

A stripper clip is used to load cartridges into a magazine. I was using "clip" in the general usage referring to a magazine......stripper clips aren't made in twenty round size nor are they ever pinned to 5 rounds. I thank all for the input. David

Well, to be fair, a clip is not a mag, and a mag is not a clip. Full stop. If you're talking about a mag... why not call it a mag?

You cannot use the same term to describe two comptetely different items in the same post.

Some would call that confusing. I would be one of those people.

"stripper clips aren't made in twenty round size"

Well as a matter of fact some are. I have an Italian stripper clip for one of their machine guns that holds 20 rounds of 7.35 ammo.
When in doubt be precise and use the proper terminology - people will thank you for it.

Really?

"I have no live rounds, spent rounds, empty casings or pyrotecnics in my possession.. Sir!"

;)

(fingers crossed)

Jsyk, blanks, like as in for exercises, shooting off at your friends, have a kind of like crimped bullet-like tapered extension past the end of the 'case mouth', this to ease feeding in the autoloaders.

Grenade-launching blanks are more like crimped at the neck/mouth of the case, tho it isn't a plain old 7.62 NATO case, nope! I believe the crimp on that would be called a rosette type crimp. These were to be loaded individually. Whole other pressure curve, eh.....

My bet with no pics is what you have are the exercise blanks (issued in the stripper clip).
