I went out to Galt last week to pick up my K20 after having an annual done by The Gun Dealer (they were there for the Sporting Clays event). While I was there I ended up picking up a Blaser F16 Sporting. My son handled one at the SHOT show and decided it would be the one he bought once he could afford it. I figured it would be a nice surprise for him but after putting a few hundred target loads through it, I'm not so sure I don't want to keep it !

My first impressions are positive. The fit & finish is excellent, the trigger is on par with either one of my K guns and the gun handles like a dream. I'm used to a heavier gun but with the smaller sized receiver, the F16, even with 32" barrels is far more "lively", at least to me. The lighter weight does seem to make for a bit more felt recoil, but nothing drastic as the stock fits me pretty good right out of the box. I'm also a fan of the plain, grey coloured receiver. I like engraving also, but the grey, coupled with the matte black barrels and dark wood work for me. It came with 5 Blaser (Briley) chokes so no need to buy anything else for the gun. The only nitpick for me is the case, a bit flimsy in my opinion.

First 2 rounds of skeet were 49/50 and first round of 5-stand was 42/50 (I hate pairs of rabbits, especially when they seem to be hyped up on Red Bull !!!). I'm impressed so far, enough that I might just sell my K80 and pick up another one for me !!! I have access to an F3 but to be honest, I would buy another F16 first, I like it that much. If you're in the market for a gun in that price range, CG, Beretta etc., take a look at the F16 also. You might be surprised.

I handled an F-16, but I ended up with a lightly used F-3 Vantage for very little more cost. The F-3 also feels very quick with 32" barrels, much quicker than a K-80, more like my K-20 with 30" barrels. The triggers feel better to me than either Kreighoff or Perazzi. My only complaint is that the finish on the receiver wore badly for only 4000 rounds. If I found myself in the market for another clays gun, it would be an F-3, but with a silver nitride finish

Bit of a necropost - but I just received my new-to-me F16 Sporting - and this thing is a work of art! The wood and fit and finish are second to none - by far the nicest shotgun I've ever owned.

Taking it out shooting this weekend, but it shoulders great, swings nicely and should be a fantastic addition to my collection. :)

Enjoy it. A year later and I still shoot my sons F16 better than my K guns. After a full year of fairly heavy use, the only nitpicky thing is the red colouring on the F16 logo on either side of the receiver is starting to wear. Other than that it's been a trouble free, clay target crusher. Two of the guys I shoot with have also picked up F16's after trying mine and both are well impressed.

By any chance, was it fro Macadam, NB with the really nice dark wood ?
