Blaser R8

R8

Wow thats a hell of a deal,I wonder if any canadian dealers can get this.I have a R 93 ,its the most accurate gun I own.One thing though with these euopean guns you have to shoot caliber heavy bullets or you'll pull out your hair trying to get them to shoot.robin

That package looks slick. Thinhorn, I have one synthetic and one wood stocked R93 and totally agree with you...the best hunting rifles out there, IMHO. I haven't really looked much at the R8, mainly because I don't like or want detachable mags on my hunting guns.

Anyone thinking of getting an R8 should look into the interchangeability issues with R93 parts...I seem to recall reading that the R8 uses different barrels, bolts, etc. than the R93. It would be a bit of a shame to lose that modularity which is one of the main selling points of these guns. If you don't have any money already sunk into the Blaser system, then the R8 is currently the logical place to start.

Lots of good info and interesting discussion at BlaserPro.com.

I have one, with several barrels; and I'm waiting for a second one. As previously stated R Nichols is the distributor in Canada (http://www.fnsports.com/en/index.php) so you don't need to import the rifle yourself. But you have to be patient, it takes a 3-4 months to get the orders if they don't have it in stock.

Extremely accurate, takes less than one minute to change calibers if you don't have to change the bolt and less than 5 if you have to change the bolt too (three sizes of bolts). Very easy to transport too (that was the main advantage for me).

No interchangeability between the R 93 and the R8, beside the scope mount. Two different rifles.
