I'm looking for a blaze orange hunting vest that is quiet (fleece would be nice), with multiple pockets for gear. It would be primarily for moose and deer hunting and would be worn over my hunting coat. Any recommendations?

I use my safety equipment for hunting. I have everything from T-shirts to vests to light jackets and heavy jackets. It is mandatory in gravel pits and construction sites, hence the reason I have the variety for different weather conditions and seasons. You can get it everywhere and there is a good selection. Not only is it blaze orange, but you can get it with the reflective silver and some blaze yellow. You may find more quality stuff at an actual Safety Equipment store. It comes in big boy sizes, too. Like 5XL. It will fit over your regular clothing.

Thanks. I don't think we can have the striping on it in Ontario but I suppose I could always remove the striping. I was hoping for something that was quiet but maybe I'll check-out Acklands and see what the have.

As long as you have 400square inches of solid blaze orange (no mesh or camo) above the waist and can be seen from all sides you are good to go. The fluorescent stripe or X running through such worksite vests is fine. There is no regulation stipulating how the blaze orange is to be distributed...you can have it in discrete chunks on your clothing.

You may wish to look at the couple designs at Cabelas ...... both are well made and have buttons instead of zippers that I prefer.

- Ultimate Pack Vest II (I own this one - has fewer pockets compared to the Pro Guide)

- Pro Guide II Vest

I use a Primos GunHunter vest and am happy with it over the course of using it for two fall seasons so far.

Try dutyapparel. They make blaze orange MOLLE vests that you can attach different pouches on to. You can customize them for what ever your needs are. They are water resistant and retain some heat in the chest and back area. I have been using mine for 2 years now and I am very happy with it. They are located in N. Ontario.

These kinds of timber cruiser/surveyor vests look promising, if you can find where to buy one online.
(sorry for the big picture, its all I could find)
