Blind Side vs Black Cloud

In a couple years of hunting Waterfowl I have yet to find Blind Side on sale at Cabela's so I haven't used it. I use Black Cloud regularly with good success. Prefer the Remmy Hypersonic over BC, although the higher FPS seems to affect lead distance on waterfowl so I have been getting away from it just for shot consistency. Shooting out of a gas semi so recoil is not an issue, Hypersonics packed a good punch out of my Mossy 500.

I patterned both last year, never buying either ever again! Both loads stay in the wad till about 20yds, then patterns fall apart beyond that.... so <20yd= slug/ >20yd=Crap. (I will admit at exactly 20 they do throw beautiful patterns)

As a rookie, you'll likely be doing a fair amount of "skyblasting" - no need for a premium shell, you're just wasting your money and your shoulder. Buy standard 3 inch fodder, and spend the difference at a skeet or trap range.
Oh -and those Hypersonics have made mincemeat out of more than a few actions....

I have used both quite a bit and I will say that the best by far in my gun is the blind side ammo. I shoot a Remington 870 pump gun, and used the #2 shot in 3 inch mag. I knocked down so many high flying mallards and geese this year I started to feel a bit smug about it! My shoulder was not injured or "blown off" Ha Ha. Best ammo I have used in steel. Been shooting waterfowl since 1977.

I don't shoot either but if I had to pick one it would be black cloud . Have bought about 2 boxes of both .I found that the black cloud patterned better with a more open choke . The blind side patterned half descent to about 25yd it really opened up after that . This year I bought a couple boxes of winchester xpert 1 1/6 oz at 16?? Fps .they pattern awesome with my LM choke and absolutely stone ducks out to 45yds . these shells were $16.99 a box .moral of the story don't buy premium buy what patterns best and works .

Thanks folks. Only reason I asked was as I am new to this they also sounded like gimmicks to me and wanted to see if anyone used them with success or if they were more of a marketing gimmick.

Double check and make sure the ammo you shoot is compatible with a wad retarder choke like a Wad Wizard or Pattern Master to name a couple. 90% of the time I use 3" 1 1/4oz #2 Kent Fasteel over decoys for ducks and geese. I use a Wad Wizard SWAT12 in a Benelli SBE II.

They have more similarities than differences: both are gimmicky and overpriced.

Pattern a bunch of different loads, and use whatever works best. If it's something cheap, you win. If it's something expensive, so be it.

Which brings me to an idea: would those gun shop owners out there be willing to make available some "patterning packs" with a sample of different loads for us?

I had tried both and if I had to pick I would go with blackcloud . Blindside didn't pattern worth a S**t in my extrema 2 or a400 xtreme. I use a patternmaster ext range choke with the cheapest of shells ( usually winchester expert ) and absolutely crush birds. Best combo but very price is the patternmaster and Hevi Metal by heavi shot.... pure devastation .
