Many years ago I loaded some ammo for my brand new Colt Sporter 2. Book said it was a compressed load so I wasn't worried about the powder level, maybe it was brass.
Didn't hit the target and blew primers out.
Shelved load and never tried again.
I found the cartridges tonight and pulled bullets, 29.6 gr of ball powder filled case to top. not neck.
If it doesn't kill you it makes stronger(smarter)

A friend of mine was just telling me how in his youth he and a friend of his began reloading shotgun shells. They had a proper load data, but figured they cold up the powder charge and get some more oomph out of their loads. The managed to kill some geese at ranges they had never dreamed possible. The excess recoil and muzzle blast didn't bother them too much and they thought it pretty neat that the primers would have hole blown out where the firing pin struck it. Of course they finally over did it and blew his new Remington 1100 that he had just bought that year. His ears rang for three days but other than that he was fine. He never reloaded another round in his life.
