Blocking Thermolds?

I have 5 left over from my army days still holding out. Go gentle on the drilling and you should do fine. I drilled through the spine and used light aluminum pop rivets.

for those craptastic mags(and any plastic mag) my observation is wooden dowell or insert of some kind inside and crazy glue the floor plate. No worries about weakening the plastic with holes. Or starting a small hole and having it crack like sheet ice. Just my observations/opinion.

A pop rivet on the side, just the the rear of the groove, 30mm down from the lip. There is enough wiggle room in most wag wells from side to side that this is not an issue compared to putting the rivet through the spine.

The tab in the floorplate is going to snap anyway, so snap of off if it's not already snapped. Then get an aluminum rod about 1/4 in. in diameter and bend it into an L, and rivet the foot of the L to the floor plate. Now drill a slant hole through the floor plate and through the bottom back of the mag body, so that when you replace the floor plate, you use a self tapping sheet metal screw to keep the floor plate in place, doing the job that had been done by the flimsy tab. Cut the height of the top Of the L to get the right capacity, it arrests the downward travel of the follower.

Now you can take the mag apart for easy cleaning.
