Hi,

I need a bit of input here...

I bought some .223/5.56 ammo off a guy at the range...

5 out of 30 primers blew before I gave up...

Is this a load (ie too much pressure) problem? Is this a primer problem? or is this a firing pin problem?

The rifle is a Savage 12FV with accu-trigger.

The box says it's FNM ammo made in Portugal... has anyone had problems with this stuff before?

Thanks for your input

Does this happen with other store bought ammo?
I would toss the ammo if you are in doubt. I hope you didn't buy a case of it.

These is a SAAMI warning about using military spec. ammunition in a .223 rifle. Maybe that is the problem. FNM ammuntion is generally decent quality. It would be interesting to try it in a Mini-14 or AR-15, either of which has a military spec. chamber. At any rate, if other ammunition works fine in your rifle, and this doesn't, don't use it in your Savage.
