This weekend I was finishing the second 5-shot series of a duello target, and on the last shot: BLAM!! The sound was 2X as loud as the previous ones.
Pieces of the gun flew/dropped off, and I looked at my GSP with mounting dread.
There didn't seem to be anything wrong with the gun, barrel, bolt, receiver all OK.
But the magazine was damaged:

The case was blown right apart at the base:

Load was 1.9 gr Titegroup behind a 98gr wadcutter with 2 lube rings.
The culprit?
Me, of course. I can't decide if it was:
1. An accidental double charge - not likely, I've done over 13K reloads with not a single double charge. My most "common" mistake is no powder (5 times out of the 13K).
2. A weakened case - more likely. I've noticed that once in a while there's a small bulge at the head, probably from crud in the chamber that prevents full chambering, but enough that the cartridge can be fired. I'll have to keep a closer eye that those, and clean the gun more frequently i.e. after every 30 rounds or so.
3. Both of the above
